Community isn't built through events alone. It's built through the people who show up, volunteer their time, and create lasting connections.
Working with Love Riverside gave me the opportunity to document those moments through photography and film. Rather than focusing on logistics or announcements, the goal was to tell human stories that inspire others to get involved.
Long-Term Creative Partnership
Love Riverside exists to strengthen neighborhoods through service, volunteerism, and community relationships.
I've partnered with their team to document projects across Riverside from neighborhood cleanups and community gardens to family events, food distributions, and volunteer initiatives.
Rather than approaching each assignment as an isolated event, every photo and film became part of a larger visual story.
The objective wasn't simply to show what happened.
It was to create work that helps people imagine themselves becoming part of it.

Building Better Spaces
Communities don't transform overnight.
They change through consistent work of neighbors planting trees together, volunteers cleaning parks, organizations investing in forgotten spaces, and local leaders choosing to care.
My role was to document these moments honestly, focusing less on the tasks themselves and more on the people willing to do them.
Families Create Communities
Community isn't measured only by large volunteer projects.
It's built through ordinary moments.
Parents bringing their children.
Neighbors sharing a table.
Libraries opening their doors.
Kids learning together.
Events like story time and family craft workshops reminded me that community is often created long before a shovel ever touches the ground.
Sometimes it starts around a table.
Serving With Purpose
Some of the most impactful work happens quietly. Preparing hygiene kits. Organizing donations. Serving families. Supporting volunteers before the public ever sees the event.
These projects rarely seek attention, yet they represent some of the most consistent acts of service within the organization.
Capturing these moments meant documenting both the work and the people behind it.
Every project begins by observing before filming.
Rather than directing moments, I prefer allowing stories to unfold naturally.
I spend time understanding the people involved, finding authentic interactions, and capturing the atmosphere surrounding each event.
That approach creates films and photographs that feel lived-in rather than staged.
Whether I'm documenting volunteers planting trees or families attending story time, my goal remains the same:
Make the viewer feel like they were there.
